Sridevi Wasn’t Happy With Janhvi’s Decision Of Joining Bollywood, DETAILS INSIDE!
Janhvi Kapoor’s debut movie Dhadak isn’t even out yet and she has garnered a million fans and fan pages dedicated to her. She has appeared on the cover of a magazine and has become social media’s favourite. As she is the daughter of a Bollywood actress, one might think that getting into movies would’ve been easy for her. However, in a recent interview, Janhvi revealed that she had to convince her mom to allow her to dip toes in Bollywood.
In a recent interview with DNA, Janhvi said that her mother Sridevi had told her to reconsider her decision when she told her that she aspired to be an actress. “I told my mom and she said, ‘Please reconsider your decision’. She always felt that I am too naive. Mom and dad are very protective of me. They didn’t think I was equipped to deal with the non-creative aspect of filmmaking. Mom wasn’t too happy. She felt she had worked so hard to give her children an easy life. But I didn’t want that, I wanted a fulfilling one. I aspired to have that creative expression, that experience in real life with the struggles. I am very thankful for everything I have, but I am hungry to experience more than whatever has been given to me.“, Janhvi said.
Janhvi further revealed that she didn’t have to fight tooth and nail to get permission from her parents for entering the industry. “It didn’t take a lot of convincing because they knew I was serious about it. They just told me that acting doesn’t mean looking pretty and reading the lines. I knew that, so I wanted to do it.”
She further added that acting for her is an opportunity to experience different things in a single lifetime. “I have lived a wonderful life because of what my parents have given me, but at the same time, it’s been relatively sheltered. I’ve been protected all my life and I don’t know if it was because of who my parents were or the kind of people they were. Acting gives me the ability to experience different lives and expose myself to so many feelings. That’s why I wanted to pursue it because this was my one-way ticket to do everything.”, said Janhvi.
Dhadak, starring Ishaan Khatter & Janhvi Kapoor, is all set to hit the theatres on July 20. It is the remake of the Marathi blockbuster ‘Sairat’. The trailer of the film, which was released a few days back, has got positive responses from all corners. Its title track ‘Dhadak’ has already piqued the fans’ curiosity.
