The 22nd edition of the much reputed Star Screen Awards took place in Mumbai last night. A starry affair was graced with the presence of Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Rekha, Alia Bhatt and others.
The award night became a much happening one, as soon as Salman Khan and Shahrukh Khan rode on cycles to host the show. Showing off some hardcore bromance, the Khan duo endlessly entertained the audiences. After sharing years long enmity, their coming together is attention-grabbing for obvious reasons. They chose ‘friendship’ as the theme of their segment and highlighted their strong friendship bond by joking about past rivalry period.
Yet another cynosure of the event was legendary actress and ageless beauty, Rekha. Even though she presents some crucial awards but rare does it happen when she dances at such public events. Winning the maximum gazes, Rekha raced thousands of hearts as she danced on ‘Pardesia, ye sach hai piya’.
Talking about the fashion quotient at the starry extravaganza, the B-town ladies failed terribly to do impress us. Deepika wore a black fitted gown with a huge black flower embellished on the shoulder and weird cuts and twirling ruffles. It was so ironic when Deepika received the ‘Style Icon of the Year’ in such a dress. Alia Bhatt, who won the best actress award too chose a wrong dress as per her pretty figure. She went for a strapless assymetric floral embroidered top with black pants which didn’t make her look chic at all. Moreover, her silver-bluish eye shadow was completely offbeat with the dress.
Sonam Kapoor was yet better than the rest as she donned Stephane Rolland’s gown. She has carried much better looks before, though. Sonali Bendre, Disha Patani and Kriti Sanon were among the others who prevented the fashion quotient to hit the bottom low. Bipasha Basu, Divya Khosla Kumar, Tamannah Bhatia and Gauahar Khan too were among the worst dressed.
‘Pink’ won 4 awards in the Best Actor, Best Dialogues, Best Film and Best Editing categories. Pritam won the Best Music Director award for the soulful music of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Rishi Kapoor and Shabana Azmi also won the awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively.
