Sushant Singh Case: Petition Against 8 Film Personalities Including Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor Dismissed
A district and sessions court in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur has on Friday dismissed the revision suit filed against eight Bollywood personalities, including Salman Khan, on charges of conspiracy to kill actor Sushant Singh Rajput, according to a report.
Filmmakers Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Aditya Chopra, Bhushan Kumar, Dinesh Vijayan, and Sajid Nadiadwala were also named in the complaint, HT report said adding that last year, the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) court turned down the petition filed by local lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha accusing Salman Khan, Ekta Kapoor, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Karan Johar, among others, of abetting actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s alleged suicide. Chief Judicial Magistrate Mukesh Kumar dismissed the petition, saying the matter is outside the court’s jurisdiction.
Following this, Ojha filed a revision suit in the district court but the court rejected the plea. However, the order letter regarding the dismissal has yet to be issued by the court and the exact reason for dismissal of the revision suit would be ascertained once the order is issued.
According to Live Hindustan, Ekta Kapoor’s advocate Priya Ranjan alias Annu has said on Thursday the revision suit filed regarding the death of Sushant Singh Rajput has been dismissed. “The complaint was lodged based on baseless allegations. We are satisfied with the court’s decision. The incident is outside the jurisdiction of Muzaffarpur,” Ranjan said, according to Live Hindustan.
Ojha, while talking to the media said that he will now move to the high court, in this case, to seek justice for the late actor. He said that the information regarding the reason for the rejection has not been given yet.
On 14 June 2020, Indian actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead, hanging from the ceiling fan at his home in Bandra, Mumbai. The cause of death was ruled to have been suicide by authorities and the official postmortem reports concluded that Rajput died of asphyxia due to hanging. The Mumbai Police launched an investigation into the death, which was the subject of widespread speculation and rumors.
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), India’s national drug law enforcement agency, had arrested Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and three others after registering a case against them in August 6 last year.
