17-year-old Andrea Sierra Salazar is a high school student from Texas who models in her spare time. She discovered a lump in her neck and it turned out to be a cancerous tumor.

Andrea said, “I wouldn’t have known I had cancer until one day I felt like I slept wrong, and my neck hurt. I patted my neck and I felt a really big ball.” Her mother asked her to work for some modelling assignments. However, post chemotherapy she started losing her confidence.

“Before chemotherapy I had always been a confident person,” Salazar said. “So when my hair started to fall out I would look in the mirror and I wouldn’t feel that confident about myself.”

Their photographer Gerardo Garmendia suggested to do the photoshoot without a wig.

“At first I didn’t feel confident enough to do a version without a wig,” she said, “but then I realized that I had no reason to be ashamed of the way I looked, I should be proud.”

Well, nothing can stop us if we are happy with what we have. Proud of you, Andrea!
