The Truth About Suman; Why Did She Part Ways With Bollywood?
Maine Pyaar Kiya fame Bhagyashree aka Suman was a meek, sensitive and the most Sanskaari girl. The world has not forgotten her to date. She became popular overnight across the country for her character alongside Salman. But this was not her first screen appearance as guessed by everyone.
She appeared in “Kachhi Dhoop”, a serial by Amol Palekar. This was her first-ever project as an actress. Amol Palekar, a well-known actor/director approached her to play an important role in his T.V. serial. This serial was based on “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. This came to her as luck by chance as the actual actress had abruptly left the show, and the makers were in search of someone to fulfill the role.
This serial became a successful start of her career and bagged her major roles in Kisse Miya Biwi Ke and Honi Anhoni. Still, nothing could be compared to the fame she got with Salman Khan in Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989), a film by Sooraj Barjatya.
Bhagyashree belongs to the renowned Patwardhan family from Sangli, Maharashtra. She is the eldest of three daughters. She married Himalaya Dassani (Businessman) in 1990 and starred opposite him in a few movies; namely, Payal, Qaid Main hai Bulbul, and Tyagi. But unfortunately, these were huge flops.
Bhagyashree decided to take a break from movies as she was skeptical about maintaining a work-life balance. But made a comeback a few years ago with a T.V. serial Laut Aao Trisha. Unfortunately, she suffered from a saddening medical condition during the shoot of the same. The condition affected her hand movements and according to the doctors, she needed surgery to treat it. She wasn’t ready for it and decided to self-heal.
However, this wasn’t her only comeback. She also acted in various regional movies and finally appeared on screen again in Thalaivi starring alongside Kangana Ranaut
During her break from Bollywood, she virtually gained expertise in nutrition and fitness from Stanford University, American Fitness and Professional Associates, and the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN). She recently graced the most popular Indian show Bigg Boss hosted by Salman Khan.
The 52-year-old actress now wants to take her acting career seriously. She believes she did not make much of it as she could have!
