Throwback To When Tanuja Slapped Dharmendra And Called Him ‘Besharam’. Reason Will Surprise You-

Apparently, the veteran actor Dharmendra tried to flirt with Tanuja on the sets of Chand Aur Suraj. Offended, Tanuja slapped him. Dharmendra felt ashamed and asked her to tie a Rakhi on his wrist.

In an interview, Tanuja confessed that when this happened Dharmendra was married to his first wife Prakash Kaur. Sunny Deol, his son was five years old back then. Dharmendra had married Prakash at the age of 19 in 1954.

The duo has starred in many films together.

In an interview with Filmfare in 2014, Tanuja had said, “We were shooting for Dulal Guha’s Chand Aur Suraj. Dharam and I were drinking buddies and would have great fun. He even introduced me to his wife Prakash. Sunny (Deol) was just five then, while his daughter Lali was around six months old.”

“One day he tried to flirt with me. Taken aback, I slapped him and said, ‘Besharam! Did your wife know you have the audacity to flirt with me’. Embarrassed he pleaded, ‘Tanu, meri maa, sorry bolta hoon (I am sorry)! Please make me your brother’. I refused saying ‘I am happy with my own brother’. After much cajoling, I took a black thread and tied it around on his wrist.”

Tanuja and Dharmendra have starred together in several movies including Chand Aur Suraj (1965), Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi (1966), Izzat (1968) and Do Chor (1972).

Tanuja begin her acting career when she was only seven years old in the movie Hamari Beti (1950) that also starred her sister Nutan. Her debut as an adult actress is in the movie Chabbili which was directed by her mother and starred her sister Nutan as the lead role.

She married Shomu Mukherjee they have two daughters-Kajol and Tanishaa. Dharamendra married Hema Malini in 1980. He has two sons and a daughter- Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Esha Deol.
