Political tensions aren’t new to Hindi movies and the latest example is Milap Zaveri’s Satyameva Jayate. The trailer of the flick starring John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee and debutant Aisha Sharma was released on June 28, and the film has already found itself stuck in a controversy.
A BJP leader, Syed Ali Jaffry has filed a complaint in Hyderabad against it, for allegedly hurting the sentiments of a particular community. Jaffry demanded action against the makers of the film for hurting religious sentiments. A lawyer has told a media portal that the scene of Muharram procession is presented wrongly in the trailer and it was not at all required in the movie as it is based on corruption and how John Abraham’s character avenges all the wrongdoings happened with him.
“The procession of Muharram has been depicted in a wrong way in the trailer. Our concerns are that the movie’s plot is based on corruption and the lead role is being played by John Abraham, who is avenging the wrongdoings on him. The makers could have very well completed the film without having a scene with the Muharram procession. The movie’s plot has nothing to do with Muharram. All these things are outraging religious feelings of a particular sect.”, he said.
Syed Jaffry has filed the police complaint against the makers with the Hyderabad Police and stated that the scene in question hasn’t only hurt him but the entire ‘Shia Community’. He has demanded the removal of the particular scene from the movie. The police are yet to watch the trailer and figure out what made him take offence.
Satyameva Jayate will hit the screens on August 15th and will face a clash with Akshay Kumar’s Gold & Sunny Deol’s Yamla Pagla Deewana. Written and directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, the movie features John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles, along with Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma.
