World Health Organization says that video-game addition can be disastrous for your brain. ‘Gaming Disorder’ is proposed as an addiction. The proposed diagnosis has been listed under “disorders due to substance use or addictive behaviors,” and is further detailed as “mental and behavioral disorders that develop as a result of the use of predominantly psychoactive substances, including medications, or specific repetitive rewarding and reinforcing behaviors.”


“Disorders due to addictive behaviors include gambling disorder and gaming disorder, which may involve both online and offline behavior.”

If you consider it as a stress buster, then you are wrong. Excessive use of video-games is degrading the mental health. Gaming disorder, which is an alarming mental health issue, is going to be seen more often. Video-games are powerful enough to attract kids and even adults. Always sticking close to the laptop or playstation can have fearful symptoms in your body.


Gaming habits can be stopped if you carefully focus on the negative impact that it could have on you. It is a widespread problem that needs attention as soon as possible. Parents should be more attentive and strict towards the hours being given to their kids for playing video-games. Excessive use can lead to depression, aggression, obesity, anxiety and much more.


There is another problem that should be solved. Violent video-games that involve killing and shooting have a bad influence on young children. If you really want to play games or find a hobby, choose an outdoor activity instead, or you could simply jump to board games.
