Vivek Oberoi recently reflected on the nature of stardom, saying that history can eventually reduce even the greatest stars to “nothingness.” Shah Rukh Khan, widely regarded as one of the world’s most iconic movie stars, enjoys immense global fame built on beloved romantic roles in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. However, Vivek believes future generations might not even recognise Shah Rukh Khan’s name. In a conversation with Pinkvilla, he explained that fame is unpredictable and temporary, suggesting that no matter how celebrated a star is today, their legacy may fade with time.

While we were discussing, Vivek Oberoi mentioned in his interview: “Which film, starring whom from the 1960s, do you ask anyone about today-nobody cares. You will inevitably be relegated to history. In 2050, people might say, ‘Kaun Shah Rukh Khan?’ (Who is Shah Rukh Khan?)”

Meanwhile, during the same chat, Vivek continued, sharing more insights and expanding on his earlier points as the conversation moved forward with greater clarity and depth. “Just as people today might ask, ‘Who is Raj Kapoor?’ You and I may call him the god of cinema, but if you ask any youngster who is a fan of Ranbir Kapoor, they might not even know who Raj Kapoor was. So perhaps history eventually relegates us all to nothingness.” The late Raj Kapoor is the grandfather of Ranbir.
Vivek Oberoi’s Upcoming Projects
