Sleep deprivation can cause a number of diseases. Weaker immune system, heart disease, heart attack, heart failure, irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes and many more which I might not know.
Even one night of less sleep considerably affects the body. It takes toll on your aesthetic outlook as well making you look ill with eye bags and dark circles and lowers your work productivity.
There are many methods to counter this problem. You may take pills, count sheep or maybe study math- I don’t know, but whatever you do still takes time. (Other than pills, which are just not good for your health).
But don’t worry, here is a trick I recently came across that can help you fall asleep in just a minute or two. The first thing will be to always wear comfortable clothes and then you do this; breathe in through your nose for four seconds. Hold this breath for seven seconds. Then exhale for eight seconds. Repeat this three times and you should fall asleep. This technique is called the ‘4-7-8’ technique and actually works.
It can be considered as a form of meditation. It relaxes the heart and the brain (exactly, the brain that is thinking a number of thoughts) and calms the body overall. Next time you have trouble sleeping, try this and wake up to a good night’s sleep!
