Sarvesha, a 30 year old woman delivered baby girl in the Punjab National Banks’ Jhinjhak branch in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. She had come to withdraw cash along with her mother-in-law for the second time in two days. Since the government’s move to demonetise old 500 and 1000 Rupees notes has been brought in, long queues and chaos at banks has become a usual affair.
After an ambulance didn’t reach on time, the other women present there helped Sarvesha to deliver the child. However, she was shifted to the nearby hospital later. Both the mother and new born baby are fine but Sarvesha is a little weak though. Sarvesha’s husband passed away earlier this year in September in an accident and she had come to the bank to collect the first installment of Rs. 2.75 Lakhs Rupees compensation allotted to her by the government.
