In India we see two different kinds of families. One is where the woman is only the home maker and does not venture outside for any professional work. The second is the working woman who manages both the home and the workplace. In either case the woman is supposed to take care of the the home and in some cases both the home and the workplace. There is little by the way of gender equity though some change is visible nowadays.
A third kind of family is also being increasingly seen nowadays where the daughter of a business family takes over charge of the business enterprise or gets involved in the day to day business. Here they are integral part of decision-making and have an place in the boardrooms. Few of these pretty ladies have the onus of taking forward the legacy of family business on the shoulders from their previous generations. Some like Simone Tata wife of Naval Tata build the iconic cosmetic brand Lakme in the early sixties, that was sold to Hindustan Lever in 1996, others like Anu Aga the ex Chairperson of Thermax who led the engineering giant Thermax from 1996 to 2004 have been inspirational leaders in their own ways.
