SRK is a leading face of commercial cinema, Kashyap on the other hand serves reality-based cinema like no one else. Despite being connoisseurs of two completely different cinematic worlds, Anurag and SRK share a special friendship which hardly anyone knows about.
Kashyap, who inaugurated ‘India and the world – The Changing Narrative’ film festival opened up about his 20 years old bond with Shah Rukh Khan, who also happens to be Kashyap’s university senior. The ‘strange’ and notorious bond is so dear to Kashyap that he vows not to leave Bollywood without doing a film with SRK.
He fondly opened up about their camaraderie and revealed how SRK so wanted to work with him in ‘No Smoking’, the film which eventually went to John Abraham. ““Shah Rukh Khan wanted to do No Smoking, he was very upset when I went away from him. I also went to him with Allwyn Kalicharan. I wanted to do that with him and a big superstar from Hollywood. Everything was almost done but then again (it didn’t happen),” he said.
But Anurag quickly added, “But we will work together. I won’t go anywhere without making a film with Shah Rukh Khan.” Anurag, who has earned an image of a revel in the industry, further revealed that he can fight with anyone but not with SRK. “He is the only guy I can never speak upto. I can fight with the world but not him. If he scolds me, I’ll sit in a corner and cry. He is someone I have this love for. I love him to death,” he said.
He also added, “He always makes fun of me, bullies me. He says ‘Agar main bolta na woh Wasseypur ka dialogue toh teri picture zyada badi hit ho jaati.’ (If I had spoken the dialogues of Wasseypur, your film would have been a bigger hit) He’s like that. He is super charming, he can charm everyone around him,”
When will this collab happen? We are waiting!
