Several reports claimed that the popular comedian had stepped away from stand-up due to health concerns, and a video of him announcing the break also went viral on social media. In a candid interview, Zakir Khan opened up about the real reasons behind his decision, revealing that while the break is connected to health, it is not as dramatic or permanent as many believed. During the interview, Zakir Khan explained that he has been reconsidering his lifestyle due to a genetic health condition that runs in his family. He said, “I have to focus on my health. There are some genetic diseases in my family that start to appear after a certain age. I have also harmed my body. I sleep for two hours and then go to meet thousands of people.”

The comedian highlighted the intense demands of his profession, stating that the moment he arrives in a city, his schedule becomes nonstop, leaving little room for rest or recovery. Zakir Khan also reflected on his responsibility toward his family and future generations. He mentioned that he is the first in his family to achieve this level of success, which makes him more conscious about doing things the right way.

He admitted that for nearly a decade, work remained his top priority, often at the cost of his physical well-being. “When you work continuously for 10 years, it affects your body. So I decided that from now on, I will focus on my health along with work.” Zakir Khan further revealed that the turning point came during his trip to the United States last year. It was then that he realized managing both intense work commitments and health simultaneously had become difficult.

Zakir said, “Last year when I went to America, I realized that I cannot handle both things at once. And after that, I decided to take a break.” Addressing the viral video that led many to believe he would not perform stand-up comedy until 2030, Zakir Khan clarified that his statement was misinterpreted. He explained that his comment was specific to Hyderabad, as it would take time to resume shows there once he returns to work. However, he reassured fans that the break will not be long-term.
