Actor Aly Goni has voiced his frustration over the deteriorating condition of roads in his hometown Jammu, criticising the lack of accountability under the Union Territory administration. Taking to Instagram Stories on Monday, Aly shared videos of damaged roads, remarking, “When you don’t have a government. Welcome to Jammu city lol. Gaadi ke chalaan karwalo, badi badi baatien karwalo… aur yeh milta hai return mein.”
The Yeh Hai Mohabbatein actor said the issue has persisted for over three years. In another Story, he commented on Jammu and Kashmir’s UT status, saying, “Yeh halat hai mere shehar ki. People say UT sahi hai. Mereko kisise bhi problem nahi hai agar mere shehar me kuch accha ho raha hai. But wherever you go outside my house, you will see the road in bad condition.”
Aly also revealed that when locals had earlier faced similar issues, they approached the then-MLA Raman Bhalla, who ensured repairs. But now, with no proper government, residents are left with no one to turn to. “The road in front of my house is not getting fixed. It has been like that for the past 3-4 years. When I asked someone, they said, ‘Whom should we approach?’” he shared.
Calling for the restoration of statehood, Aly emphasised the need for an accountable system. “I don’t think UT status is right. If there is a government, you can run after them, you can talk to them. The condition of Jammu is bad, guys,” he said, adding that the present administration lacks the power to address such issues.
The actor also took his appeal to X (formerly Twitter), tagging Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rakesh Minhas. He wrote, “Residents of Peer Bagh–Sunjwah–Bathindi are struggling due to broken roads & neglected civic facilities. Daily life is badly affected. We humbly request your urgent intervention for immediate repair & development.”
Aly Goni, who has featured in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Bigg Boss, Nach Baliye 9 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 9, said the matter is no longer about politics but about the basic needs of the people.
