Deepika Padukone Breaks Silence on ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Buzz, Says ‘Internet Reading Too Much Into It’

Actor Deepika Padukone has responded to online chatter questioning her apparent silence around husband Ranveer Singh’s film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, dismissing speculation with a brief but pointed reply on social media.

The discussion began after the film’s release, when several users noticed that Deepika had neither attended the premiere nor shared any public posts praising the project, despite its strong box office performance. This led to speculation online, with some questioning whether her silence was intentional.

Addressing the buzz, Deepika reacted to a viral Instagram reel that questioned whether her lack of public response was a deliberate statement or simply overanalysed by the internet. In the comments section, she wrote, “The latter my friend… P.S. I watched it way before any of you did. Now who is the joke on?” effectively shutting down the speculation.

Her response quickly gained traction, with fans interpreting it as a clarification that there was no underlying issue and that the online narrative had been exaggerated. Several users also defended the actor, pointing out that public displays on social media are not the only measure of support in personal relationships.

The chatter had intensified particularly because Dhurandhar: The Revenge, directed by Aditya Dhar, has emerged as a major commercial success. The film has recorded strong box office numbers and generated significant attention across platforms, further amplifying scrutiny around those associated with it.

Reports indicate that the speculation also stemmed from Deepika skipping the film’s screening and attending another event around the same time, which added to the online debate. However, her response suggests that such observations were being overinterpreted.

The actor’s comment reframed the discussion, emphasising that her silence was not indicative of any issue but rather a case of “overthinking” by social media users. Her remark about having already watched the film before its public release further underlined her awareness and involvement, even if it was not publicly documented.

The episode highlights how celebrity social media activity continues to be closely monitored and often scrutinised, with even the absence of posts becoming a subject of debate.

Deepika Padukone, who was last seen in Singham Again, continues to have a busy slate of upcoming projects. She is set to feature in King alongside Shah Rukh Khan, as well as in a film directed by Atlee opposite Allu Arjun.
