Dhruv Rathee Criticises Aditya Dhar, Calls Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ Worse Than ISIS Beheadings: ‘His Lust For Money Is Unhinged’

Ranveer Singh- Dhruv Rathee

Recently, Dhruv Rathee has strongly criticised the trailer of Dhurandhar, calling out its excessive violence and gore. While fans have praised Aditya Dhar’s spy action thriller for its intense, gripping narrative, the trailer’s graphic depictions of torture and blood have sparked controversy. Rathee, a content creator and political commentator, condemned the film for normalising extreme violence on screen. He specifically highlighted scenes of torture, drawing a disturbing comparison to beheading videos circulated by terrorist organisations like ISIS. This stark criticism contrasts sharply with fan reactions, showing that while some celebrate the film’s intensity, others find its brutality deeply troubling.

Dhruv Rathee criticises the Dhurandhar trailer for violence, gore shown

Dhruv Rathee reacted on Twitter (now X) on Tuesday, shortly after the film’s trailer premiered online, sharing his thoughts and opinions regarding the trailer within hours of its digital release. “Aditya Dhar has truly crossed a limit of cheapness in Bollywood. The extreme violence, gore and torture shown in his latest film trailer is the equivalent of watching ISIS beheadings and calling it “entertainment”,” Dhruv Rathee penned.

Further condemning the film, Rathee expressed strong disapproval, highlighting its excessive violence and graphic content, and criticised the director for normalising brutality instead of focusing on meaningful storytelling. “His lust for money is so unhinged that he is willingly poisoning the minds of the young generation, desensitizing them to gore and glorifying unimaginable torture.”

The creator appealed to the Central Board for Film Certification (CBFC), urging them to examine the film due to its excessive and graphic depiction of violence, calling for careful scrutiny and action.“This is the chance for the Censor Board to show if they have a bigger problem with people kissing or watching someone get skinned alive,” he concluded.

Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as an Indian spy in Pakistan, alongside Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. The trailer has drawn attention for its intense violence and gore. One scene shows Arjun Rampal, portraying an ISI Major, skinning a person alive, while another depicts Akshaye Khanna as a Lahore gangster brutally beating a man to death with a stone. These shocking sequences have sparked discussions among fans about the film’s graphic content and dark, thrilling tone.

Fans Praise the Intriguing Darkness Captivating Audiences Everywhere Today

The internet, surprisingly, shows little concern over the depicted violence, reacting casually and often with humor or indifference, indicating how desensitised online audiences have become to such graphic content.

“The energy, the darkness, the atmosphere… it feels like Shashwat just opened a new chapter in Indian music ,” wrote one, praising the background score. “To the Censor Board: Jaisa trailer me dikh raha hai ek dum waisa hi theatre me bhi dikhna chahiye (We need to see it in theatre exactly how it is shown in the trailer). NO CUTS NO BLURS,” another urged the CBFC.
