Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has voiced his support for students protesting over alleged NEET examination irregularities, saying they deserved to be heard—not mistreated. Reacting to the recent crackdown on demonstrators, Diljit said he knows his remarks may once again earn him the “anti-national” label, but that would not stop him from speaking up.
‘I’ll Be Called Anti-National Again’
Diljit addressed the criticism and also people would probably call him “anti-national” once again for standing with the students. However, he insisted that he could not remain silent when young people were raising concerns about their future.
The actor reiterated that he supported the students and their right to be treated with dignity, not any political agenda.
‘Students Should Have Not Been Treated Like This’
Expressing disappointment over how the protests were handled, Diljit said the students “should have not been treated like this.” He urged authorities to listen to their concerns instead of responding with force. He said, “Lokan di avaaz Rab di avaaz hundi aa” (The voice of the people is the voice of God), stressing that public voices deserve attention and respect.
Diljit: From Staying Away to Speaking Up
Interestingly, Diljit’s latest comments mark a shift from his stance earlier this month, when he had distanced himself by describing himself as “an artist, not a politician.” But his recent statement makes it clear that he feels compelled to speak out against injustice.
