She underwent surgery in May 2025, during which approximately 22% of her liver was removed. Following the operation, she was on oral targeted therapy for two years to prevent recurrence. When the 13mm lump was discovered, it raised alarms because the symptoms particularly abdominal pain were similar to those she had experienced during her cancer diagnosis. She also reportedly suffered from severe shoulder pain at the time.

Shoaib explained in a vlog that when they visited their friend Akram, Dipika’s pain suddenly intensified. They immediately consulted Dr. Somnath, who advised a CT scan. The scan revealed a cyst in her abdomen. According to Shoaib, doctors decided against open surgery. Instead, they performed a minimally invasive procedure in which the cyst was burned from inside the abdomen.

He further mentioned that after the procedure, Dipika’s oral targeted therapy may be discontinued, and doctors could consider starting immunotherapy as the next step in her treatment plan. Thankfully, the procedure was successful, and Dipika is currently recovering. Dipika Kakar has been dealing with health complications for over a year, which has kept her away from acting projects. Her cancer diagnosis came after she experienced persistent stomach pain.
