Born on January 21, 1986, in Maldiha, Bihar, Sushant was the only brother among four sisters. His childhood name was Gulshan, and he was known by this name in school. Being the youngest, he was showered with love, but his life took a tragic turn in 2002 when he lost his mother. Following this, the family moved to Delhi, where Sushant continued his education and developed a deeper interest in science and space. An exceptionally bright student, Sushant secured Rank 7 in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). He enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, but destiny had other plans.

Gradually, Sushant realized his heart lay in performance. He joined Shiamak Davar’s dance group, participated in theatre workshops, and moved to Mumbai to chase his acting dreams. Like many strugglers, he began with small assignments, as a background dancer and theatre artist. One of the most fascinating moments from this phase of his life was during the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games closing ceremony, where Sushant danced as a junior artist alongside Aishwarya Rai.

Sushant trained under Barry John and soon got his first television break with ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil’. However, it was ‘Pavitra Rishta’ that turned him into a household name. His portrayal of Manav earned massive love and established him as a promising actor.
