Mumbai Crime Branch has made major progress in the shocking firing incident outside Bollywood director Rohit Shetty’s residence, arresting four accused in connection with the case. The incident, which occurred late night on January 31, sent shockwaves across the film industry and once again raised serious concerns about celebrity security in Mumbai. On Sunday, February 1, Mumbai Police confirmed the arrest of four young men following extensive investigations.

The arrested accused have been identified as Aditya Gyaneshwar Gayaki, Siddharth Deepak Yenpure, Samarth Shivsharan Pomaji, and Swapnil Bandu Sakat. All four were produced before Mumbai’s Esplanade Court, which remanded them to police custody till February 5. A fifth suspect, detained earlier in Pune, is still being intensively questioned, as police believe he may be a key conspirator in the case.

According to officials, CCTV footage collected from the area shows an attacker firing multiple rounds before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. In one clip, the assailant is clearly seen opening fire, while another camera captures the bike used during the escape. Police revealed that at least five bullets were fired at around 12:45 am, one of which shattered the glass of a gym located on the first floor of the nine-storey building where Rohit Shetty resides.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, though panic gripped the neighbourhood. Investigations soon led police to Pune, where five suspects were detained. Four were formally arrested after questioning. During the probe, officials uncovered alleged links between the accused and Shubham Lonkar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and an accused in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui.

Police sources claim that some of the arrested youths had conducted a reiki of Rohit Shetty’s residence days before the attack. Raids are currently underway to recover firearms and other evidence. Hours after the firing incident, a threatening post surfaced on social media, allegedly from accounts linked to Shubham Lonkar and Arju Bishnoi. The post named gang members Hari Boxer and Harman Shandu, and described the shooting as merely a trailer.
