Bollywood actor Govinda is known for his calm demeanor and witty charm. However, when he chooses to speak up, he doesn’t hold back. In his latest interview, the veteran star took a sharp dig at filmmaker Karan Johar, expressing his displeasure over the 2022 film Govinda Naam Mera, starring Vicky Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan. Govinda hinted that the film was inspired by incidents from his personal life and did not mince words while addressing the matter.

Govinda Reacts to ‘Govinda Naam Mera’
During the conversation, Govinda recalled what he described as a big incident, referring to a film allegedly made using his name. “I’ll tell you the biggest incident. Someone made a film in my name. ‘Mera naam Govinda… Govinda Mera Naam…’ It’s something like that, I don’t know. I think it was Karan Johar’s,” he said. The actor further described the film’s storyline, which revolves around a complicated love triangle involving a husband, wife, and girlfriend.

According to Govinda, the narrative seemed uncomfortably close to personal situations often speculated about in his own life. His comments have sparked fresh discussions in Bollywood circles, especially considering that Govinda Naam Mera was produced by Dharma Productions, Karan Johar’s banner. Govinda did not stop at expressing his concerns. He also issued a subtle yet firm warning against dragging personal lives into public narratives.

“Sometimes people try to insert everyone’s story into our personal lives. If I get caught… like the respected Rajinikanth, I’ll give you this much prasad… I promise, no misbehavior please,” he said, adding that joking about sensitive topics is not always appropriate. The actor’s statement suggests that he believes certain filmmakers may be drawing inspiration from real-life rumors without consent.

While he maintained a respectful tone, the underlying message was clear, he does not appreciate personal references being used for cinematic entertainment. In the same interview, Govinda also spoke about his wife Sunita Ahuja’s public appearances and debut film. He expressed support for her stepping out and staying active rather than being confined to domestic life. “It’s good. If she stays at home, she’ll give too many interviews. So, she should come out, I pray,” Govinda remarked humorously.
