He clarified that the intention was never to disrespect women or objectify any character. Adding fuel to the debate, screenshots of alleged private chats, shared by fan pages on social media have gone viral. The screenshots purportedly show Janhvi Kapoor expressing discomfort with specific camera angles used while filming scenes for her character, Achiyamma. According to the viral screenshots, Janhvi had reportedly made it clear to the makers that she was uncomfortable with shots focusing on certain parts of her body.

One message, allegedly dated October 30, 2025, suggests that she had specifically requested that such angles not be used during filming. The screenshots further claim that co-star Ram Charan supported her concerns. In one alleged conversation, Janhvi reportedly stated that Ram Charan objected to the filming style and asked the director not to use those camera angles again. Some of the viral messages also suggest that Janhvi found the situation frustrating and was trying to convince the team to reconsider certain creative choices.

Another alleged chat indicates that discussions around the portrayal of female characters in South Indian cinema had surfaced during conversations with fans. The controversy intensified after social media users began comparing Janhvi’s role in Peddi to previous debates surrounding the portrayal of actresses in other commercial entertainers. As criticism mounted, the film’s team faced increasing pressure to respond.

Addressing the issue, director Buchi Babu Sana recently stated that changes would be made to the disputed scenes. He emphasized that neither the filmmakers nor the creative team intended to present any female character in a disrespectful manner. Released on June 4, 2026, Peddi is a sports drama featuring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles. Despite the controversy, the film has enjoyed a strong run at the box office, reportedly collecting over ₹125 crore net in India and approximately ₹191 crore worldwide within its initial days of release.
