Bollywood stars Kajol and Rani proudly participate, keeping alive their family’s long-standing tradition. Their presence adds a special charm to the festivities. The Mukerji family celebrates with devotion, love, and happiness, welcoming the goddess with open hearts and sharing the joy of Durga Puja with everyone.

Kajol and Rani Mukerji Emotionally Unveil Durga Puja Pandal

The Mukerji family of Bollywood continued their long-standing tradition of hosting the annual North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja. Like every year, this time too, Kajol and Rani Mukerji performed the idol unveiling of Goddess Durga. The cousin-sisters stunned in elegant traditional looks—Kajol draped a beige organza saree with a zari-bordered edge paired with a red blouse, while Rani chose a graceful white Bengali silk-blend saree. Keeping their make-up minimal, both looked effortlessly beautiful.

Kajol and Rani Mukerji unveiled the idol of Durga Maa by drawing back the curtains at the pandal, as the sacred chant Aigiri Nandini echoed in the background. Once the idol was fully revealed, the Mukerji sisters folded their hands in reverence, their faces glowing with devotion. Both Kajol and Rani appeared deeply moved, their emotions reflecting the divine moment before the Goddess.

Kajol and Rani Mukerji Joined by Ayan Mukerji, Honouring His Late Father’s Tradition

Kajol and Rani Mukerji weren’t the only members of the Mukerji family present at the pandal. They were accompanied by Kajol’s sister, Tanishaa, and their cousin, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji. Known for directing Brahmastra, Ayan marked his first Durga Puja celebration since the passing of his father, veteran actor Deb Mukherjee, fondly called Debu by the family, who died on March 14, 2025. Tanishaa told IANS that their beloved ‘Debu Kaka’ was the one who organized the Durga Puja pandal every year. This year, the celebrations carried a mix of joy and sorrow for the Mukerji family. For those unaware, Rani Mukerji took on the role of co-organiser for the family’s Durga Puja 2025. Sharing her thoughts, Tanishaa said:

“It is a time of little sadness for our family, along with a little excitement because this year there have been three deaths in our family. Our Debu Kaka (Deb Mukherjee), who used to organise Durga Puja every year, is no more, and for us it would be a little difficult to attend the puja this time. However, there is a lot of excitement as well because we are taking his dream forward.”

Each year, Kajol and Rani Mukerji lead their family enthusiastically, chatting warmly with relatives and offering flowers to Goddess Durga’s idol. This year too, their devotion remains just as strong, though the celebrations carry a quieter tone, as the family continues to grieve the loss of three loved ones. To watch, click here.
