Kiara Advani Voices Support in the Bollywood 8-Hour Workday Debate: “Burnout Helps No One”

Bollywood actor Kiara Advani, who recently embraced motherhood, has added her voice to the ongoing industry discussion about adopting an eight-hour workday on film sets.

Kiara On: The 8 Hour Conversation

The conversation intensified after leading actress Deepika Padukone reportedly stepped away from projects like Spirit and the Kalki 2898 AD sequel due to her preference for limited daily shooting hours. Since then, opinion within the film fraternity has been divided.

In a recent interview with Vogue India, Kiara made it clear where she stands. She stressed that pushing people to the point of burnout is unproductive, saying unequivocally that “burnout helps no one in any industry.” According to her, maintaining dignity, balance, and respect—both on set and in personal life—is essential for long-term well-being and creative fulfillment.

The actor, who welcomed her daughter Saraayah with husband Sidharth Malhotra earlier this year, also shared how motherhood has reshaped her views on work-life balance.

She revealed that simple joys, like hearing her daughter laugh in her sleep, help remind her to pace herself and prioritise mental health.

Kiara’s comments align with what many others in Bollywood have said about the need to rethink grueling schedules—echoing a broader push to make the industry more sustainable for parents and professionals alike.
