Speaking to IANS, Rajkummar Rao discussed Patralekhaa’s journey into motherhood, saying he has seen her evolve into an independent individual and artist over the years, and believes embracing motherhood has further enriched her personality, adding deeper emotional sensitivity, warmth, and a more profound sense of connection to life and relationships.
“I think I have seen her journey, of course. And likewise, she has seen my journey. But for me, the transition of Patralekhaa, from being this independent, you know, how beautiful Patralekhaa is, to when I saw her as a mother, how she became this very sensitive, timid, fragile girl that I saw when I first met her,” he said. Rao said it was beautiful to witness because motherhood compels such actions and naturally the baby becomes the foremost priority in a mother’s life always. “That’s why I think mothers are so special, you know, for all of us,” the Toaster actor shared.
He mentioned he now witnesses this transformation daily, particularly as she balances her professional duties while embracing the challenges and responsibilities of motherhood very closely. “I am seeing her every day now. It’s beautiful to see her transitioning between her work as a producer, as an actor, and then also being available for that part of it. It’s way more tough for women, physically and emotionally also, way more tough,” he stated.
Rajkummar Rao emphasised that men also face emotional difficulty, though physical challenges are comparatively less severe. “But women go through a lot. So this journey of hers has been beautiful. I think it’s been fantastic,” he said.
