Singer and actor Nick Jonas has shared an emotional and deeply personal account of his daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas birth, revealing that she was underweight and extremely fragile in her early days. Speaking on the popular Jay Shetty Podcast, Nick spoke candidly about the challenges he and his wife, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas, faced after welcoming their first child.

During the heartfelt conversation, Nick praised his daughter’s strength and resilience, saying he feels grateful to finally experience her beauty and presence. The singer became visibly emotional while recalling the difficult moments surrounding Malti’s arrival. Nick revealed that Malti was born much earlier than expected. “We were expecting her in April of the year she was born,” he said. “Then we got a call that she would be coming early.”

Recalling the moment of her birth, Nick shared shocking details. Malti weighed just 1 pound 11 ounces (765 grams) and appeared extremely fragile. “When she came out, she was almost purple in color,” he said, adding that the situation was terrifying for both parents. He went on to explain how the NICU nurses immediately resuscitated and cared for her, calling them nothing short of lifesavers. Malti spent several weeks in neonatal intensive care, where she received round-the-clock medical attention.

Nick shared that both he and Priyanka committed themselves fully during that difficult phase. The couple reportedly worked 12-hour shifts every day at the hospital, staying close to Malti until she was strong enough to come home. Despite the emotional toll, Nick expressed immense gratitude for the medical team and said the experience changed his perspective on life, family, and parenthood.
