According to the creators, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 is set during winter break of 1985. After the gate to the Upside Down closes, the friends plan snowy adventures filled with fun and mischief. Instead, beneath the ice, something sinister lurks. Has it come from the Upside Down or Hawkins Lab? Or does it have entirely different origins? Mike, Will, Eleven, and their friends race to solve the mystery and save Hawkins again. More importantly, they unite to protect Eleven from the government’s ever-present watchful gaze once more together bravely.
Through the animated series, the Duffer Brothers aim to recreate the vibe of an 1980s Saturday morning cartoon within the Stranger Things universe, as Eric Robles, the showrunner, writer, and executive producer, explained to Tudum. “It’s like Hawkins Lab science meets Upside Down matter. When you put them together, those are the kinds of creatures we have in our world.”
