The incident Ranveer referred to traces back to 2025, when he appeared on comedian Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent. During the episode, a controversial remark related to parent-child relationships sparked widespread outrage. The backlash quickly escalated, drawing legal attention. Authorities, including the Maharashtra Cyber Cell, reportedly registered FIRs and issued summons. Several comedians and artists linked to the show were questioned, and the show itself was eventually taken down from YouTube.

The controversy not only impacted Ranveer’s image but also had ripple effects across the comedy circuit, leading to cancelled shows and venue withdrawals. Ranveer’s reflective post did not go unnoticed. Comedian Kunal Kamra responded strongly in the comments section, criticizing the influencer and holding him accountable for the fallout. Kamra alleged that over 30 artists faced legal trouble due to their association with India’s Got Latent.

He further claimed that the controversy caused significant damage to the comedy industry, with multiple performances being cancelled and careers affected. In a scathing remark, Kamra accused Ranveer of pretending to be a good person and urged him to take responsibility for his actions instead of attempting to rebuild his image publicly. The India’s Got Latent controversy became one of the most talked-about digital disputes of 2025. Beyond social media debates, it triggered real-world consequences, legal scrutiny, disrupted shows, and heightened sensitivity around content in India’s comedy scene.
