Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has addressed the controversy surrounding his “dudhiya badan” remark about Tamannaah Bhatia, stating that the comment was misunderstood and was intended as appreciation rather than objectification.
The controversy dates back to an earlier interview where Kapoor, reacting to Tamannaah’s performance in the song Aaj Ki Raat, had said, “Mashallah, kya dudhiya badan hai” (Oh my God, what milky body she has). The remark quickly went viral and drew criticism on social media, with several users calling it inappropriate.

In a recent interaction, Kapoor revisited the incident and provided context for his statement. He explained that the comment was made while discussing the composition of the song and the performance, and that his reaction was limited to appreciating Tamannaah’s dance and screen presence.
Clarifying his intent, Kapoor said that there was no element of desire or vulgarity in his words. “I don’t have lust,” he stated, emphasising that his remark was meant as admiration rather than anything inappropriate.

He also pointed to language as a key factor in how the comment was perceived. Kapoor suggested that the Hindi phrase “dudhiya badan” may have been interpreted differently compared to its English equivalent, arguing that similar expressions in English might not attract the same level of criticism.
The actor further noted that his intention was to acknowledge beauty in an artistic sense. He maintained that appreciation should not be equated with objectification, and that the reaction to his comment may have been influenced by how language and cultural expressions are received in public discourse.

Addressing the backlash, Kapoor said he is willing to apologise if his words caused discomfort. He added that he would even “touch her feet” as a gesture of respect if Tamannaah felt hurt by the remark.
The clarification has not entirely quelled the debate. While some have accepted his explanation, others continue to view the comment as inappropriate, arguing that such remarks contribute to the objectification of women in the entertainment industry.
The episode has also reignited broader discussions around how public figures comment on appearances and the line between appreciation and objectification. Kapoor’s defence that his remark was rooted in admiration has been met with mixed reactions, reflecting differing perspectives on language, intent and context.
The controversy resurfaced recently after clips of the original remark began circulating again online, bringing renewed attention to the issue. Kapoor’s latest statement seeks to clarify his position, even as the debate continues across social media platforms.
