Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have been summoned by a civil court in Pune for allegedly showing disrespect to the judiciary in their upcoming film Jolly LLB. The summons was issued after a petition was filed by lawyer Wajed Rahim Khan. The court has instructed all three to appear in person on October 28 at 11 a.m.

Advocate Wajed Rahim Khan stated that the action comes in response to a petition he filed, claiming that the film ridicules the legal system and shows court proceedings in a disrespectful manner. In his plea, he criticized the negative depiction of the legal profession and highlighted a scene where judges are called “mama,” a slang term.
In an interview with ANI, he stated, ” There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong… I filed a petition in the Pune court. And the court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Walsi and the director to be present.”
The complaint was first lodged in 2024 following the release of the film’s initial teaser. Last week, the teaser finally dropped, offering audiences their first look at the showdown between the two Jollys, portrayed by Akshay and Arshad.
