Behind those graceful spins and flawless expressions was a lesser-known story of endurance. Reports claim Madhuri Dixit was four months pregnant during the rehearsals and still practiced for nearly 13 exhausting hours.
She Had Fever, Felt Dizzy — But Continued Rehearsing
The choreography was designed by legendary choreographer Saroj Khan, who had crafted an intricate blend of classical dance styles for the song. Reports reveal that Madhuri was battling fever and dizziness during rehearsals.
The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad is also seen.
Yet, despite the physical strain, she reportedly never asked Saroj Khan to simplify or modify the difficult dance step. That quiet determination is perhaps what makes the performance even more extraordinary today.
Why Dola Re Dola Was So Difficult
The song was never meant to be an easy Bollywood dance number. The choreography involved detailed footwork, long takes, classical dance influences, and near-perfect synchronization between two of the industry’s finest dancers. Even Saroj Khan had earlier described the song as one of the toughest sequences she had choreographed.
Interestingly, reports from the shoot also revealed that Aishwarya Rai’s ears had started bleeding because of the heavy earrings she wore during filming, yet she continued shooting till completion.
