When confronted, he would initially deny it, believing he was incapable of such behavior, only to later realize the gravity of his actions. These experiences made him confront a harsh truth: that alcohol had taken away his sense of self-control and judgment. Piyush Mishra acknowledged that his addiction began affecting his professional life as well. He admitted that such perceptions lingered for a long time, and even today, he sometimes finds himself explaining that he is no longer the same person. Originally from Gwalior, Mishra revealed that his drinking habit began during his time in Delhi. Over time, it spiraled into a serious addiction that threatened his life. In 2009, he suffered a brain stroke, an incident he attributes to excessive alcohol consumption, which affected the right side of his body.

Determined to regain control, Piyush Mishra turned to Vipassana meditation, which played a crucial role in his recovery journey. While he clarified that he hasn’t completely given up alcohol, he now consumes it only occasionally and with control. He has often said that quitting excessive drinking likely saved his life, and today, he continues to work toward maintaining balance and self-discipline.
