Ranveer Singh Denied 40 Crore Compensation

According to reports, Excel Entertainment claimed that Ranveer Singh pulled out of Don 3 after significant investments had already been made in pre-production. The production house allegedly demanded ₹40 crore as compensation, stating that the project suffered setbacks due to his exit. However, Ranveer Singh has strongly denied any liability, reportedly stating that he did not accept any signing amount or advance payment for the film.

Responding to the producers’ demand, Ranveer reportedly said that such situations are not unusual in the film industry. He cited Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an example to support his argument. Ranveer revealed that he had spent nearly a year preparing for Bhansali’s ambitious project Baiju Bawra. However, the filmmaker later moved on to another project, Love and War, effectively shelving Baiju Bawra.

Despite investing time and effort in preparation, Ranveer stated that he did not demand any compensation from Bhansali when the film did not materialize. He reportedly argued that in Bollywood, it is common for films to be delayed, shelved, or reworked for various reasons and actors do not typically seek financial damages in such situations. To resolve the escalating dispute, the Producers Guild of India held a private meeting where both parties reportedly presented their viewpoints.

Sources suggest that Ranveer maintained he was not responsible for any financial loss since he did not take a single rupee from the producers. He allegedly emphasized that shelving or postponing films is part of the industry’s functioning, and compensation is not usually demanded in such cases. Reports also indicate that Ranveer referenced Shah Rukh Khan, who was originally associated with the Don franchise. According to claims, if Shah Rukh had agreed to return for Don 3, Ranveer would have been replaced immediately.
