Reality television personality and social media influencer Uorfi Javed has opened up about the disturbing online abuse she says she has faced following her victory in the first season of The Traitors. The actor recently shared screenshots and details of rape threats, death threats and abusive messages she has allegedly received over the years, particularly after emerging as one of the winners of the reality show. The post was later deleted, but not before it sparked widespread discussion online.
According to Uorfi, the messages she shared represented only a small fraction of the abuse she regularly encounters. In the now-deleted Instagram post, she stated that she has endured some of the harshest trolling imaginable and that the examples she revealed were among the mildest messages she receives. She alleged that strangers had obtained her phone number and repeatedly called her to abuse and threaten her.
The influencer claimed that the scale of harassment extends far beyond what she publicly disclosed. She said that rape threats and death threats have become a recurring reality in her life and added that the problem is not unique to her. According to Uorfi, such abuse has become a common experience for many women who maintain a public presence on social media platforms.

The revelations emerged shortly after Uorfi’s successful run on The Traitors, the Indian adaptation of the internationally popular reality format hosted by Karan Johar. The series, which premiered on Prime Video, brought together a group of celebrities competing in a game of deception, strategy and survival. Uorfi eventually emerged as one of the winners alongside poker player Nikita Luther.
The victory marked a significant moment in Uorfi’s career. Known primarily for her unconventional fashion choices and strong social media presence, she has frequently found herself at the centre of public debate. While her supporters praise her confidence and individuality, critics have often targeted her appearance and personal choices, leading to repeated online controversies.

This is not the first time Uorfi has spoken about threats and harassment. Following her win on The Traitors in 2025, she had similarly reflected on years of online hate, recalling how she had been subjected to trolling, rape threats and death threats while trying to establish herself in the entertainment industry. At the time, she described the experience as emotionally exhausting but said it never stopped her from pursuing her goals.
The issue of threats against Uorfi has also extended beyond social media. In 2022, Mumbai Police arrested a man accused of sending rape and death threats to the actor through WhatsApp messages. Authorities registered a case under multiple sections related to criminal intimidation, harassment and cyber offences.
Following her latest post, many social media users expressed support for the actor and condemned the abuse she described. Several followers praised her for speaking openly about online harassment, while others argued that public figures should not have to endure threats simply for existing in the public eye.
Uorfi has built a reputation for confronting criticism directly rather than avoiding it. Over the years, she has frequently responded to trolls, political criticism and online attacks through social media. Her candid approach has made her one of the most discussed personalities in India’s digital entertainment space.
The latest revelations have once again highlighted the darker side of internet fame. While social media has helped create opportunities and visibility for creators and entertainers, it has also exposed many of them to unprecedented levels of abuse and harassment. Uorfi’s account has reignited conversations about online safety, cyberbullying and the challenges faced by women in public life.

For now, although the original post has been deleted, the conversation it sparked continues. By sharing her experience, Uorfi has drawn attention to an issue that extends far beyond celebrity culture, raising fresh questions about the normalisation of online abuse and the measures needed to protect individuals from threats and harassment in the digital age.
