The actor-politician, who leads the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), claimed that his political opponents are orchestrating a targeted campaign against him. Without directly naming anyone, Vijay suggested that the timing of the divorce rumors, just weeks before elections was not coincidental. He alleged that these developments were part of a calculated attempt to damage his public image.

Reports suggest that Vijay and Sangeetha, who have been married since 1999, may be heading toward a separation after 27 years. It is alleged that Sangeetha has filed for divorce, citing claims of an extramarital affair and mental harassment. According to these reports, the petition has been filed in a district court, and she has also sought interim relief, including permission to continue residing in their Chennai home.

However, there has been no official confirmation from Vijay or his family regarding these claims. During his speech in Tirunelveli, Vijay strongly pushed back against the allegations and rumors. He stated that despite attempts to create distance between him and the public, such efforts have failed. He emphasized that his connection with the people remains unshaken, saying that no amount of pressure or controversy could break that bond.

Apart from personal issues, Vijay’s film Jan Nayakan has also been facing major hurdles. Originally slated for release in January, the film has been stalled due to objections raised by the censor authorities. The dispute reportedly escalated to the courts after the filmmakers disagreed with the required cuts. Vijay hinted that the delay is not merely procedural but politically motivated, alleging that specific rules and restrictions were imposed to prevent him from engaging with the public.
