Agastya Nanda, son of Shweta Bachchan and industrialist Nikhil Nanda, is once again making headlines, this time not just for his latest film Ikkis but for his honest views on legacy, family pressure, and identity. Despite being born into two of Hindi cinema’s most influential families, Agastya has made it clear that he does not see himself as carrying forward either the Bachchan or Kapoor legacy.

Agastya Nanda on Nepotism and Legacy Pressure
In a recent conversation with filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and actor Simar Bhatia for IMDb, Agastya Nanda addressed the question that often follows star kids, pressure. Given his lineage, many assume expectations must weigh heavily on him. Sriram Raghavan asked him directly whether coming from such legendary families creates pressure to live up to their achievements. Agastya’s response was refreshingly grounded.

Agastya said, “I don’t feel that pressure at all because I know it’s not my legacy. My surname is Nanda because I am my father’s son first and foremost. My focus is on making him proud, and that’s a legacy I take very seriously”. Agastya also expressed deep admiration for the actors in his family but admitted that comparisons are unnecessary and unhelpful. “I admire and love the work of my family members who are actors. But I don’t think I can ever be like them, so it’s pointless to waste time thinking about it,” he added.

Let us tell you that Agastya Nanda belongs to two of the most iconic film families in Indian cinema. His mother, Shweta Nanda, is the daughter of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. His father, Nikhil Nanda, is the grandson of Raj Kapoor through Ritu Nanda. This makes Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan his maternal uncle and aunt.

Despite this extraordinary background, Agastya continues to stress that his identity comes from his immediate family and personal journey rather than inherited fame. Agastya Nanda’s recent release, Ikkis, is a war biopic directed by Sriram Raghavan. The film is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest recipient of India’s highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra.
