Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh apologised after a video from the Raja Shivaji success party sparked online controversy. The clip showed him dancing to a Bollywood song while wearing a T‑shirt bearing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s image, which many social media users deemed disrespectful. Some viewers also alleged he appeared intoxicated. As criticism grew, Riteish posted a detailed Instagram statement addressing the matter. He expressed sincere regret and apologised to anyone whose sentiments were hurt, stressing that he never intended to offend or show disrespect to the revered Maratha warrior king. Clarifying his actions, he said his gesture was not meant to trivialise history or public emotions and asked for understanding as he took responsibility for the unintended upset.

Riteish Deshmukh Apologises, Denies Alcohol Allegations 

Riteish Deshmukh addressed the controversy through his Instagram Stories, clarifying that the success party was held to celebrate the overwhelming audience response to Raja Shivaji. He stated that he attended the event immediately after completing the day’s promotional commitments and dismissed any misconceptions surrounding his presence at the gathering.

He explained that he arrived at the event directly after promotional commitments and had no opportunity to change the T-shirt featuring Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s image. Emphasising his respect for the Maratha king, he clarified that wearing the T-shirt was unintentional and never meant to cause offence or show any disrespect.

Riteish said he has always been a devoted Shivpremi, and his deep respect for the great ruler is an inseparable part of his identity. He felt it was his responsibility to address the controversy and clarify the facts for his audience. Responding to the alcohol allegations, Riteish firmly stated that he has never consumed alcohol in his life and never intends to. He dismissed the claims circulating on social media as completely baseless, false, misleading, and far removed from reality.

He also noted that the individual who recorded and circulated the video was not invited to the private celebration held for the film’s cast and crew. Riteish ended his statement by reiterating that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj remains a symbol of faith, pride, and inspiration. He stressed that his admiration, respect, and unwavering devotion to the legendary ruler remain unchanged and will continue forever, regardless of any controversy or misunderstanding surrounding the incident or event.
