He emphasised personal choices and requested people to respect his private life and beliefs too.
Armaan Malik Clarifies Identity, Defends Relationship
During a press conference episode of a reality web show, Armaan said people often assume he is Muslim because of his name, but that is not true. He clarified, “I am Hindu, though my name may suggest otherwise.” He also shared that his birth name is Sandeep Malik and that he adopted the stage name Armaan Malik fourteen years ago.
Armaan also faced a barrage of uncomfortable questions, including ones about his polygamous relationship. “Iss rishte ko kya naam de (What should we call your relationship),” one of the reporters asked. Armaan was quick to respond, “Kuch rishte aise hote hai, jinka naam hi nahi hote (There are few relationships who are named or categorised).” The press conference got heated when one of the reporters asked Kritika “How could you betray your best friend?” to which Armaan responded, “Rakha toh dono ko hai na (I’ve kept both of them).” The reporter corrected Armaan and said, “Woh aapki patni hai.” (She’s your wife).” Another reporter slammed Kritika Malik for cheating on her best friend Payal Malik, who is Armaan’s first wife, “Payal ki majboori ka fayda uthaya hai (You have taken advantage of Payal’s conditions).”

Angered by allegations, Payal Malik confronted trolls in her latest vlog, stating firmly that naming her children is her personal choice and requires no explanation or justification to anyone whatsoever. “We named them whatever we liked—whether it was Zaid, Ayan, and Tuba, or Krishna, Kiara, and Prithvi. There’s no such thing as Hindu or Muslim. When God has created everyone the same, who are we humans to divide them?”
Armaan married Payal in 2011 and has a son. In 2018, he married her friend Kritika. In 2022, he revealed Payal and Kritika were pregnant, and he is father to four children.
