Tanushree Dutta On Sajid Khan’s Participation In BB16; Says, “I Am Appalled, Will Never Watch The Show”

Back in 2018, there came the MeToo wave in India. It gave courage to many women for coming forward and talking about their ordeal at the hands of sexual predators. And when we talk about this phase in our country, one cannot forget Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress, Tanushree Dutta’s contribution to it.

Dutta, who returned from abroad brought along a baggage she was carrying for years. She came to her homeland and openly talked about sexual misconducts happened with her while she was working in the Hindi film industry. There onwards, came a lot of stories of actresses suffering sexual molestation at work.

Brother of renowned filmmaker, Farah Khan and director of hit film franchise, Housefull, Sajid Khan’s name also appeared in MeToo. He was accused of behaving inappropriately with females by multiple women. After being out of work for four years, he is now doing the biggest reality show of the nation, Bigg Boss. Viewers are upset with the makers for giving him such a big platform. And now, flagbearer of MeToo, Tanushree has also expressed her disappointment over roping in Sajid for the show.

A shocked Tanushree has stated, “I am appalled too. I am speechless at the sheer irresponsibility of this action and the impact it would have on the public. I don’t watch Bigg Boss and I think I ever will after this.”

Furthermore, she talked about the movement she led a few years ago. “The #MeToo movement was an iconic phenomenon in India, given the culture of silence and secrecy in India about sexual harassment. Being a modern, Indian American girl, I always found it hard to understand why this kind of silence is encouraged at the cost of a rotting eco-system. I mean, if people get punished for bad behaviour, only then will the communities remain safe. It’s just logic. And why so much hush and stigma around calling out predators? You go complain to police if someone robs your house, right? Then why not complain if someone hurts your honour or tries to trouble you for their devious pleasures. People think I’m just too American, but I’m just upholding my honour as an Indian woman.”

The Bengali Beauty and a former Miss India has films like Dhol, Bhagam Bhag, Good Boy, Bad Boy, and others to her credit. She is looking forward to making a comeback to acting.
