Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde are well aware that the singer’s fandom has changed since their romance. Although the singer, who has been dating the director of Don’t Worry Darling since late 2020, is rarely on social media, as he stated, the 28-year-old is aware of the unfavorable reaction some fans have had to his personal life.

Olivia experienced a barrage of abuse from Harry’s fans online when reports of the couple’s romance seemed to be confirmed with their attendance at a wedding in January 2021. According to Buzzfeed, some fans bombarded her social media with comments blaming the director of “taking” him and that she should be “ashamed” of their relationship.

After meeting on the sets of Don’t Worry Darling, the couple made their romance public in January 2021.

“It’s certainly a horrible feeling to feel like being close to me means you’re at the ransom of a corner of Twitter or something,” the 28-year-old singer said of the abusive comments. “I simply wanted to sing,” he continued, “and I didn’t want to go into it if I was going to hurt people like that.” While Harry expressed his displeasure with the comments, Wilde, who was also interviewed by the source, stated that the majority of Harry’s followers are “truly lovely people” and “real champions of kindness.”

Olivia, who has children with ex Jason Sudeikis, Otis, 8, and Daisy, 5, commented on having to resist the impulse to address the drama around her love life.

As Wilde explained, “I don’t understand the cruelty you’re referring to because that kind of toxic negativity is the opposite of everything Harry does.”  “I don’t personally believe the negative energy reflects his fan base at all,” she added. As netizens continue to drag on Harry’s prior relationship, the couple appears to be taking the high road. Though Harry made it clear that he and Wilde were not “public,” he did clarify that his going out with his partner is not for clicks.
