Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez recently bid an emotional farewell to her mother, Kim Fernandez, by performing her last rites in the sacred city of Varanasi, also known as Kashi. Accompanied by her father, Elroy Fernandez, the actress immersed her mother’s ashes in the holy Ganges River following traditional rituals. Jacqueline arrived in Varanasi on March 15 and kept a low profile throughout her visit.

According to reports, she stayed briefly at a hotel before heading directly to the revered Manikarnika Ghat, one of the holiest cremation grounds in India. To maintain privacy during this deeply personal moment, the actress reportedly kept her face covered. Along with her father, she took a boat to the middle of the Ganges, where she performed the asthi visarjan with full religious customs.

Jacqueline’s mother, Kim Fernandez, passed away earlier this month after battling serious health complications. Reports state that she had suffered a heart stroke and was admitted to Lilavati Hospital, where she remained in the ICU for nearly two weeks. This was not her first health scare, she had previously suffered a stroke in 2022 and underwent treatment in Manama, where she resided.

Kim Fernandez, a former air hostess and Malaysian citizen, was married to Elroy Fernandez and was a mother to four children, including Jacqueline. Despite coming from a Christian background and being originally from Sri Lanka, Jacqueline Fernandez has often expressed her deep respect for Indian culture and spirituality. She chose Kashi for the immersion, citing her reverence for Sanatan Dharma and belief in the sacredness of the Ganges.
