Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has landed in a major controversy after her song Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke from the Kannada film KD Devil sparked outrage over its allegedly obscene lyrics. The issue has now taken a serious legal turn, with demands being made for strict action against the actress. According to reports, a group of 10 lawyers has approached the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), demanding the cancellation of Nora Fatehi’s work permit and even her deportation from India.

Complaints have also reportedly been submitted to multiple authorities, including the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the National Commission for Women (NCW), which has taken serious note of the controversy. The Hindi version of the song has been accused of containing highly obscene and sexually suggestive lyrics.

Petitioners argue that it violates public morality and disrespects the dignity of women. Interestingly, while Sanjay Dutt also features in the song, much of the backlash has been directed primarily at Nora Fatehi, raising questions about selective criticism. In their petition, the lawyers have referenced several legal provisions, including, The Foreigners Act, 1946, The Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920, The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986, and The Information Technology Act, 2000.

They argue that the song promotes obscenity, objectifies women, and could negatively impact societal values. Amid growing backlash, the government has reportedly banned the controversial track, intensifying the spotlight on the issue. Responding to the controversy, Nora Fatehi clarified her stance through a video on social media. She stated that she was unaware of the meaning of the lyrics, as she originally shot the song in Kannada several years ago.

She explained that she agreed to the project because it was part of a major film and featured Sanjay Dutt. Nora also revealed that she believed the song was a remake of Nayak Nahi Khalnayak Hoon Main. According to her, the Hindi version was created later without her knowledge or approval. “I had no role in the Hindi adaptation. I don’t speak Kannada and relied on the team’s explanation,” she said.
