Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has decided to contest his ongoing ₹9 crore cheque bounce case in court instead of opting for a settlement. The development comes shortly after his release from Tihar Jail on bail, keeping the actor in the spotlight amid ongoing legal proceedings. During a recent hearing at the Delhi High Court, held on the day his interim bail was set to expire, the court granted Rajpal Yadav temporary relief.

Rajpal Yadav Opts To Fight Case
His interim bail has now been extended until April 1, giving him additional time as the case progresses. The court acknowledged that a substantial amount has already been deposited by the actor. However, it also noted that the case could be fully closed if the remaining dues are cleared. Despite the court’s suggestion, Rajpal Yadav has chosen not to settle the matter. His lawyer, S K Sharma, confirmed that the actor intends to fight the case legally.

According to Sharma, when the court asked whether Yadav wished to resolve the matter through settlement, the actor clearly declined and expressed his intention to argue the case on merit. The next hearing for detailed arguments is now scheduled for April 1. During the proceedings, it was revealed that around ₹4.45 crore has already been paid to Murlidhar Projects Pvt Ltd and an additional ₹25 lakh demand draft has been submitted.

Taking this into account, the court decided not to send the actor back to jail for now and continued the stay on his sentence. Yadav’s legal team argued that he had already served three months in jail in connection with a civil case related to the same loan transaction. However, the court clarified that the earlier matter was a civil proceeding and the current case falls under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, which is a criminal offence related to cheque bounce.

The court emphasized that both matters are legally distinct and must be treated separately. During the hearing, the judge directly asked Rajpal Yadav whether he had taken the loan. The actor admitted that he had indeed availed it. The court also pointed out that he had been given multiple opportunities in the past to repay the amount but failed to do so within deadlines. Yadav also claimed that legal actions made it difficult for him to generate funds, saying that imprisonment further restricted his ability to repay.
