In an interview with one of the media houses, Rahul spoke openly about how drastically his life changed after her death. He revealed that he was vilified overnight, accused of murder, and even prevented from attending Pratyusha’s funeral. On April 1, 2016, the 24-year-old actress was found hanging in her Mumbai apartment. The postmortem report stated the cause of death as asphyxiation, but her parents alleged that she had been murdered and that it was made to look like a suicide. They also leveled multiple accusations against Rahul at the time.

Rahul recalled his last conversation with Pratyusha and the emotional turmoil she was facing. He said that a few days before her death, she had an argument with her father in which abusive language was allegedly used. According to him, she felt deeply hurt by the situation and often told him that while she was earning, her father spent money on alcohol. Rahul said such conflicts affected her mental state and left a lasting impact.

Describing the horrifying moment he found her, Rahul said he was the first to reach her flat. When she didn’t open the door, he called a locksmith. Their balconies were connected, and he sensed something was wrong when repeated attempts failed. He said the locksmith was terrified when the door finally opened, and upon looking up, he saw Pratyusha hanging from a black satin cloth. Rahul immediately took her to the hospital and even tried to give her CPR, but she could not be saved.
