The cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination amid alleged paper leak controversies has triggered nationwide outrage, with actor and politician Kamal Haasan strongly criticizing the situation and expressing concern for millions of affected students. The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially cancelled the medical entrance examination on May 12 following allegations of irregularities and paper leaks linked to the May 3 exam.

The Indian government has also directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the matter. Reacting sharply to the controversy, Kamal Haasan took to social media platform and posted a message in Tamil highlighting the emotional toll on students. The actor wrote, “The hard work and dreams of 2.2 million students, who toiled day and night for the NEET entrance examination, have been shattered due to criminal conspiracies. Who will take responsibility for this mental anguish?”

In another strong remark, Kamal Haasan called for students to be protected from what he described as an unjust examination system and the alleged mafias operating behind it. He concluded, “Indian students must be safeguarded from this unjust NEET examination and the mafias operating behind it.”

The NEET (UG) 2026 examination, conducted by the National Testing Agency, is India’s largest undergraduate medical entrance test for admissions into MBBS and other medical programs. The exam was reportedly conducted for nearly 2.3 million registered candidates across 551 cities in India and 14 international cities. However, allegations of question paper leaks and examination irregularities soon sparked massive controversy.

In an official statement, the NTA said the examination was cancelled to maintain transparency and restore public confidence in the national examination system. Fresh examination dates are expected to be announced separately. Following growing public outrage, the central government directed the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate the alleged paper leak and related irregularities.
