Actor Jannat Zubair has come out in support of Shivangi Joshi after fellow contestant Shilpa Shinde made personal remarks about the television actor on Lock Upp 2. Calling out the comments, Jannat said attacking a woman’s character should never be treated as entertainment and expressed disappointment over the remarks made during the reality show.
The controversy began after a recent episode of Lock Upp 2 in which Shilpa Shinde, while speaking to contestant Shreya Kalra, made comments about Shivangi Joshi’s personal life. During the conversation, Shilpa alleged that Shivangi had been romantically involved with the male leads of every television show she had worked on, including actor Kushal Tandon, with whom she shared screen space in Barsatein – Mausam Pyaar Ka. The remarks quickly sparked criticism from viewers and members of the television industry.

Reacting to the controversy, Jannat Zubair shared a statement supporting Shivangi. She said she had known Shivangi for several years and had immense respect for the values she represents. According to Jannat, watching someone speak about Shivangi in such a manner was upsetting because personal attacks should never become part of entertainment.
“I’ve known Shivangi for years, and I know the values she carries and the person she is. That’s why watching her being spoken about this way doesn’t sit right with me,” Jannat said. She added that disagreements and differing opinions are acceptable, but attacking a woman’s character crosses a line that should not be normalised.
Jannat further stated that reality shows can involve disagreements, arguments and strategic gameplay, but participants should avoid making remarks that question someone’s dignity or reputation. She stressed that criticism should remain limited to actions and behaviour rather than personal character.

Shivangi has not publicly responded to Shilpa’s latest remarks. However, the actor has faced a difficult few days inside the Lock Upp 2 house. Earlier episodes showed Shivangi breaking down emotionally after interactions with Shilpa, while her sister, Sheetal Joshi, also criticised the treatment meted out to the actor on the show, describing it as unfair.
The controversy has generated extensive discussion on social media, with many viewers expressing support for Shivangi and questioning the nature of personal allegations made during reality television programmes. Several users argued that contestants should avoid dragging personal lives into the game, while others defended the show’s format, saying such confrontations are common in competitive reality series.

Shilpa Shinde, who entered Lock Upp 2 as a contestant after returning to television, has frequently made headlines for her outspoken comments inside the house. Over the past few weeks, she has been involved in multiple confrontations with fellow contestants, making her one of the most discussed participants this season.
Jannat Zubair and Shivangi Joshi have shared a close friendship for years and have often spoken warmly about each other in interviews and on social media. Jannat’s statement has now added another voice to the growing criticism surrounding the incident, with several television personalities and fans continuing to rally behind Shivangi.

As Lock Upp 2 continues, the controversy has become one of the biggest talking points of the season. While Shilpa’s remarks have triggered widespread debate, Jannat’s response has shifted attention towards the broader issue of maintaining respect and dignity during reality television. The exchange has continued to generate reactions online, with viewers divided over the limits of personal commentary in competitive entertainment shows.
