Radhe Shyam, RRR, Bachchan Panday: March’s Biggest Theatrical Releases; Who Will Lead?

After incurring significant losses due to the Covid-19 outbreak during the last two years, the government of India finally allowed cinemas in Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh to open with 100 percent occupancy. It delivered a wave of relief and delight to the whole film industry.

Now that crucial theatre markets for Hindi language films have reached 100%. It’s a positive indication for both producers and the exhibition industry. This time also includes two major long holiday weekends – Holi and Eid – which will result in increased attendance at movie theatres.

“RRR, since it’s SS Rajamouli’s movie and it’s coming after Baahubali 2, which is India’s greatest hit, so it naturally has greater excitement,” trade analyst Ramesh Bala told a reporter. The film has two prominent actors and Rajamouli, and it has already had a successful advertising and promotional campaign. Because RRR is a more significant film than Radhe Shyam, it will outperform Radhe Shyam at the box office.”

According to producer Anand Pandit, the epidemic was also a deterrent to moviegoers. “We’ve already had a couple of blockbusters since theatres opened,” he continues, “and every exhibitor, distributor, and producer is praying that the epidemic doesn’t throw another wrench in the works and stymie the progress that has already been accomplished.”

The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, has topped IMDb’s list of most anticipated Indian films and series, beating out big-budget films like Radhe Shyam, RRR, Bachchan Pandey, and KGF 2.

Radhe Shyam is set to premiere in theatres on March 11th, 2022. Bachchan Pandey will premiere on March 18th, 2022, and RRR will round off the month on March 25th, 2022.
