Rani Mukerji Reveals Why Daughter Adira Broke Down in Tears

Rani explained that Adira couldn’t attend the event because she is under 14 years old. “She (Adira) was howling. She wanted to be a part of the National Awards function. We were told that children below 14 weren’t allowed. I had to tell her that she couldn’t be with me, and she said That’s so unfair, because I am the happiest for you, and I’ve also made a painting for you on your special day. And I told her, ‘Don’t worry, I will have you with me on my special day,” she stated.

Rani Mukerji Film Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway

Rani Mukerji received her first National Award for Best Actress for her role in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. The honour was presented at a ceremony held at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. For the occasion, she chose a brown saree paired with a gold necklace bearing her daughter Adira’s initials. Rani married filmmaker Aditya Chopra in 2014, and the couple welcomed their daughter the following year, in 2015. Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, directed by Ashima Chibber, is based on the real-life ordeal of Sagarika Chakraborty, an Indian mother whose children were taken away by Norway’s child welfare authorities in 2011. The incident triggered a deeply emotional and prolonged legal battle that spanned two countries.
