Actor and BJP MP Ravi Kishan has opened up about his sudden rise as a social media meme sensation, revealing that even his wife, Preeti Shukla, has had enough of seeing him go viral. Kishan shared a hilarious anecdote about his wife’s reaction to the countless memes and videos featuring him, saying she jokingly suggested locking him inside the house so that he would stop becoming an internet sensation.
Kishan has recently found himself at the centre of a wave of viral content on social media. Several clips from his podcasts, interviews and public appearances have been edited into memes, with phrases such as “Money follows my brother” and “Jaldi, the late” becoming particularly popular among users.
Speaking to News18, Kishan revealed that the unexpected attention has even prompted him to observe a maun vrat, or vow of silence, after realising that almost everything he said was being turned into meme material.
The actor-politician said his wife found the entire situation amusing but was also concerned about the frequency with which he was appearing in viral videos.
According to Kishan, Preeti told him, “Please remain quiet for a few days, otherwise we will lock you up at home.” She reportedly joked that every time he stepped out of the house, he ended up going viral. Kishan added that she even told their children that they should keep him inside a room so that he would neither leave the house nor become the subject of another viral meme.
The actor has embraced the sudden internet attention rather than expressing frustration over it. He has previously credited younger audiences, particularly Gen Z, for turning his candid comments and expressive mannerisms into memes and said he sees the trend as a form of affection.
Among the moments that have caught the internet’s attention are Kishan’s comments about money, his distinctive way of speaking and clips of his performances. His rendition of the devotional song “Kotheshwaray” has also circulated widely online, adding to the growing collection of Ravi Kishan memes.
The actor has admitted that he does not always understand why particular clips become viral. However, he has said that the attention has helped him connect with a younger generation of social media users. Kishan has described the phenomenon as a form of “madness” while also expressing gratitude for the affection he has received online.
The meme wave has also extended beyond his interviews. Old and new videos of Kishan dancing, singing and delivering dramatic lines have resurfaced across platforms, with users creating edits and reaction videos around his distinctive expressions and delivery.
Despite the unexpected nature of his online popularity, Kishan appears to be taking the trend in good humour. His wife’s suggestion that he be locked indoors has itself become part of the larger story, giving audiences another glimpse into the actor’s family life.
Kishan’s growing popularity online comes alongside his continued work in both cinema and politics. He is currently awaiting the release of Mirzapur: The Movie, which brings back several popular characters from the hit franchise. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu and Rasika Dugal, while Kishan is also part of the returning ensemble.
